The Elephant's Child

More exotic images sprung from a combination of masks, face-paint and music. These photos were taken at a production of Kipling's 'The Elephant Child,' performed here in Flagstaff last Friday night by the talented students of the Pine Forest School's third grade class.

Yaqui Easter Ceremony 1977

Beautiful photos by Tom Ives from a 1977 issue of 'Arizona Highways' magazine. The photos were taken during a Yaqui Easter ceremony. I couldn't help but think of Charles Freger's 'Wilder Mann' book when I saw these.

'Rough Windows' on RADIO FREE FLAGSTAFF

The Rough Windows Radio Hour can now be heard on Radio Free Flagstaff.  Radio Free Flagstaff is an ambitious community radio station based in my hometown of Flagstaff, Arizona.  I’ll be presenting an hour of electronic music very old and very new on each Rough Windows show.

Radio Free Flagstaff is lighting up our mountain town with a variety of great locally-produced shows:  psychedelic and progressive rock on The Purple Room … Native American sounds on the Native Renaissance Show … and noise, ambient, post-rock and acid lounge on Music Between Stations.
